Inspiration
The inspiration for this piece came from my honeymoon and an evening spent in my favourite place in the world, Hwange National Park, in my home country of Zimbabwe. My wife and I spent the evening watching a herd of more than 500 cape buffalo, slowly make their way down an open vlei to the waterhole.
The dust kicked up by the massive herd obscured all but the leading animals, which meant that they all appeared slowly, one by one, out of the haze. It was a memory I will not soon forget and one I hoped to have captured the feeling of, even in part, with this piece.
The original is still up for grabs so, if interested, please get in touch via the contact page! As with all my works, 30% of the profits from the original artwork, as well as, the 150 limited edition prints will go to Zambesia Conservation Alliance to fund vital conservation work across the Zambezi catchment area.
