Inspiration
There is nothing quite like the power of a big cats’ stare. The unwavering intensity once they have locked focus puts your hair on end. This is what I was looking to capture with this piece.
Cheetahs are predominately daytime hunters and make use of their acute eyesight to identify potential prey. Having the gaze focused slightly out of frame creates a disconnect with the viewer, opening up the question as to what exactly this beautiful big cat is focused on, allowing the viewers mind to run wild coming to their own conclusions.
The original is unfortunately no longer up for grabs but, as with all my works, 30% of the profits from this work and the 150 prints sold will go to the Aspinall Foundation to fund vital conservation work.
