The cape buffalo is one of the quitessential icons of the african bush, with the old bulls, 'dagga boys', building a reputation as the bad boys of the savannah.
Having one of these magnificent old beast stare you down, with utter disdain, is enough to even make even a male lion turn tail and run. It's this dominating presence that I wanted to capture in this work, using the extra contrast of working white charcoal on black paper to accentuate the knarly appearance of these old warriors of the african bush.
The original is still up for grabs so, if interested, please get in touch via the contact page! As with all my works, 30% of the profits from the original artwork, as well as, the 150 limited edition prints will go to conservation. This piece’s contributions will go to the Zambesia Conservation Alliance to fund vital conservation work across the Zambezi catchment area.
